Cher 'supporting' sex change

Cher has claimed that she will "strive to understand" her daughter's decision to undergo a sex change. Speaking to People, the singer insisted that she would "support" Chaz Bono as he began treatment to change his gender from female to male. "Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey... I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny," Extra quotes. "Although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child."
