Amy Winehouse: Charged with assault

amy-winehouse.jpgAmy Winehouse has pleaded guilty to assaulting a theatre manager at a Christmas pantomime last year. Panto? It's hardly known as the place for a scrap is it? Anyway, Winehouse has been charged with common assault and a public order offence after an altercation with 27-year-old Robert Pound at Milton Keynes Theatre in Buckinghamshire on December 19. Oh dear.

Winehouse has been ordered to pay £100 in compensation and £85 in costs and given a two-year conditional discharge, BBC News reports.

District judge Peter Crabtree said: "Mr Pound is a person whose job involves interaction with the public. If he's assaulted he deserves the court's protection... In this case it's obvious that alcohol played its part."

Of his sentence, he added: "It may be harder than a fine because you have now got to stay on the straight and narrow for the next two years."
