Who split Oasis up? Well, according to Russell Brand, it wasn't him. 'Onest guv. There's method in this mad statement though, because earlier this month, singer Liam Gallagher implied that his brother Noel's close friendship with Brand was partly to blame for their split last year. Can't see it, can you? Well, in an interview, Brand went about refuting this claim.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Brand revealed that he had asked Noel about Liam's comments, and maintained that the band's demise was solely due to the mounting tensions between the siblings.
"Yeah, that was a bit odd," Brand said of Liam's comments. "I spoke to Noel about that.
"Look, it's not like you're in a band for years and then you start hanging out with Russell Brand and it's over - as if the two things are mutually exclusive. The only people responsible for the break-up of Oasis are in Oasis."
He added: "I don't want to be the Oasis Yoko Ono without even getting to have sex with John Lennon!"
Yokoasis would've been funnier, but hey ho.
