Lindsay Lohan no longer on probation
Lindsay Lohan has done it! For the first time since erm... 2007 the Mean Girls actress is no longer on probation. Judge Stephanie Sautner said that she had completed all of her out of court requirements. She also said that the actress needed to be 'more mature'.
Now, it's not over yet, despite Lohan completing an extra nine days of community service (presumably that little bit of generosity dried up once the casting calls starting coming in), she's still under 'informal probation' until 2014. All this means is that she has to stay out of trouble. Like everyone else manages to. Sounds easy, doesn't it? But here's a little list of Lohan's criminal charges to date:
2007: Two arrests for driving under the influence, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license. She spent one day in prison and a lot longer in rehab. She's put on three years probabation which is then extended another year after she didn't bother turning up for her substance abuse classes.
2008 - 2009: She managed to stay out of trouble! Go Lindsay!
2010: Warrant for her arrest was issued after she failed to turn up for another DUI court hearing. Apparently her passport was stolen while she was in Cannes at the Film Festival (this is the celebrity in rehab version of 'dog ate my homework'). When she returns she's ordered to wear a bracelet to monitor her sobriety and take weekly drugs tests.
Later in the year, Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail after she violated the terms of her probation. She was released after just 14 days due to 'jail overcrowding' and was instead due to spend 90 days in rehab. She spent just 23 days at the rehab clinic where the doctors said she'd done all she could there.
A month later she failed her drug test and her probation was revoked. She spent part of the day in jail and then three months in the Betty Ford Clinic.
2011: Lindsay was charged with stealing a necklace from a jewellery shop and was sentenced to 120 days in jail. But because
she's rich and famous of jail overcrowding she completed this under house arrest. Where she failed another alcohol test. Apparently this didn't violate her probation.
But she was also meant to complete 360 hours of community service, including 120 hours at the LA county morgue. She didn't, and judge Stephanie Sautner sent her back to jail. Her bail was posted at $100,000. Obviously Lohan paid this. She's got all of her Mean Girls millions. Handy, that.
Come November, she fails her probation hearing again and this time report to jail. She's released the next day because of - you guessed it - overcrowding.
2012: She's free!
The endless case of the DUI is over, and while the probation for the necklace theft still stands, as long as Lohan stays out of trouble for two more years then she won't be going back to jail for ten minutes or otherwise.
What do you think? Can she do it? We give her six months.
